Curtis "KAID" Kincaid is a guitarist, singer, songwriter and producer. Originally from Mississippi, his family moved to Chicago when he was five years old. At 13, his mother made him choose an instrument to learn. In retrospect, he admits, “I chose the guitar only because my neighbor had one.” KAID spent all of his free time practicing his new instrument. By the time he was 17, his father bought him a four track recording studio and a drum machine. His father bought him a keyboard when KAID complained about unreliable musicians not showing up for recording sessions. It was during this time that he learned how to play keyboards, bass and program drum machines. As he reflects on this period, he says, “I guess you could say I had no choice but to learn other instruments.” During this time, he began to develop an acute sense for sound. His demos were beginning to sound like records on the radio. While in college, he worked part-time at a recording studio. It was there that he learned how to engineer and mix records. After a series of broken promises and bad deals, KAID knew it was time to change directions.

After assembling his home recording studio, KAID began to work diligently on constructing his songs. Determined to control his own destiny, he used $10,000 of his own money to finance his first album. With determination and vision, he completed his first album and titled it Deep Down. Sam Chatman (Chicago D.J.) calls the album a “Dynamic C.D.”

KAID has worked with producers such as Grammy nominated producer, The Legendary Traxster (Twista, Do Or Die, Mariah Carey) NO ID (Common, Jay-Z, Toni Braxton) and Grammy award winning producer Shekspere (TLC, Destiny's Child, Boys 2 Men). He has composed commercial music for former President Bill Clinton, former US Ambassador Carol Mosely-Braun and other high profile politicians. He has opened for Brian McKnight, Yolanda Adams and Donnie McClurkin. As he looks toward the future, he simply says, “It’s all about the music”. With that attitude, expect to hear a lot more from this musician.
